W.I.P. Wednesday Starting a Quilt for Calgary

It's Wednesday already! So it's time to link up with W.I.P. Wednesday at Freshly Pieced. If you are visiting my blog from there, welcome and thank you for stopping by.

First up, I want to show everyone my W.I.P. from last week which is now completed. It is my Quilt of Valour quilt for a Canadian soldier using the "Freshly Pieced" pattern called "Diamond Tread."

I am so happy with how it turned out and am very proud to give it to a soldier that I know who could use a quilted hug. More about this quilt in this post.
Now that I'm finished one quilted hug it's time to work on another one. You may have heard about the devastating floods that happened here in my home province of Alberta. The city of Calgary and the town of High River were hit very hard along with  many other communities. So I am starting my "Quilt for Calgary" today.
I have chosen this "Whimsy" by Fig Tree for Moda layer cake from my stash and I am going to use Camille Roskelley's "Piece of Cake 3" pattern from her Craftsy class to make the quilt. I am going to start cutting this morning as soon as I get my cinnamon buns out of the oven.

If you would like some information on how you can help those who have lost everything you can check out Calgary quilt shop. There is also this post from a blogger and quilt book author who lives in Calgary. As well as this post which contains links to the Facebook groups set up to collect quilts.
My "String of Pearls" quilt-a-long kit from Christa Quilts came in the mail last week so I hope to get these fabrics pressed and cut today too. There is a button in my button bar for that if you want to know more about it.

Thank you for visiting 'Daydreams of Quilts' and bless you for sewing slabs or even a whole quilt for Calgary if you choose to do so.
